The famous European fair of civilian weapons is slowly returning to its old ways of glory.
At the IWA OutdoorClassics 2025 in Nuremberg, a new pistol-caliber short machine gun was presented – Kuna.
This weapon, developed by HS Produkt, had already won the competition of the military police of the state of São Paulo in Brazil.
It is made of a lightweight aluminum housing with a polymer handle and a folding and adjustable stock. All controls are ambidextrous, and the handle includes M-LOK slots for Picatinny rails. The upper Picatinny rail along the entire length of the rifle integrates folding mechanical sights.
The weapon uses a roller-delayed recoil system, with a single upper roller. It has a folding, non-reciprocating cocking lever that can be placed on either side. The Kuna uses proprietary polymer magazines with steel lips to guide the rounds, which are described as "low-cost." The caliber is 9mm, but a version in .40 Smith & Wesson is also offered.
